Alvin G. Woods spent most of his life caring for the goodwill of others.  It was in his darkest hours, his own trials and tribulations, family and friends’ sickness or deaths that he would pick up a pen or pencil to scribble on paper what he was feeling at that time in his life.  Then he began to notice that he also celebrated life with written words at the birth of his children and grandchildren; as well as special occasions for friends.  His scribbled words were developed into family creeds, poems and inspirational readings. However, he never considered himself a writer.  The majority of his scribbled notes were written on the back of envelopes, newspapers and household bills.  Those notes were then shared with his wife, Cynthia.

Alvin G. Woods is now the co-author of two published books, My First Jumps: Coach Anthony James and, When You Bow in the Evening, Say a Prayer for Me which was released May 5, 2020.

Inspiring

“Awesome read, I really enjoyed the history, scripture, and flow of My First Jumps. I was inspired, and was brought back into remembrance of my old neighborhood, Earl Village, and the special people like AJ and so many others that were positive signs of hope in our communities.”
